Victor Samuel is Founder and CEO of NV Global. He has over 20 years of regulatory
and executive management experience, gained in senior compliance and operational
roles with leading financial services companies and global consultancies. Victor is
experienced in managing and leading complex AML and regulatory engagements and
building out compliance management systems for financial institutions. His
experience includes representing his client’s interests with the various regulators,
including the state banking authorities, OCC, FINRA, SEC, CFTC and the CFPB.
Victor is a senior advisor to banks, broker-dealers and fintech startups, where he advises senior management of client firms on how to successfully navigate regulatory challenges, conduct risk assessments of compliance, advise on suitability of new products and remediate and optimize compliance management systems. He is currently working on multiple projects in blockchain and crypto-assets with fintech startups such as: a major neo-bank, a cryptocurrency trading exchange, a crypto trading alerting tool, AML startup that provides KYC on the blockchain for ICOs and conducting a white paper review for a startup focused on ICO governance structure. Victor has served as a CCO for various retail full-service broker-dealers and has created sales practices and compliance programs across asset classes and covering all three lines of defense. He founded a retail broker-dealer which was acquired by a venture capital firm. He was successfully licensed as a Series 7,24,63 & 55 with multiple broker-dealers.
Victor is a founding member of the International RegTech Association (IRTA). He completed the Fintech Innovation program from MIT and is a frequent and sought-after speaker at blockchain and cryptocurrency conferences on the implications of AML and regulatory compliance for blockchain and cryptocurrency. Victor has been a featured speaker at industry events, including the ABA Regulatory Conference, AML Actimize Conference, expert panelist for AML and Sanctions Programs at the Institute of International Banks (IIB), AML and OFAC best practices lecturer at the annual conference for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the Credit and Collections Conference, as a subject matter expert on compliance management and control environments in financial institutions. He is also an associate professor for regulatory compliance and blockchain/crypto at Case Western Reserve School of Law.
Victor received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School with a concentration in securities law and is admitted to the bar in New York State. He received his MBA in Finance & Investments from Baruch College and graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and comparative literature.
Gary Swiman is the Managing Consultant for Regulatory Compliance at NV Global. Gary
leads teams to help financial industry clients navigate evolving regulatory
requirements and develop compliance strategies and solutions. Gary brings more than
25 years of experience implementing compliance programs for hedge funds, private
equity funds, registered investment advisers, investment banks and broker-dealers.
He has extensive experience advising financial institutions in responding to
regulatory activity and implementing compliance best practices, including compliance
program development, revision of policies and procedures, forensic testing and
monitoring, onsite training, governance processes and reporting, FINRA
certification, as well as anti-money laundering regulatory, remediation and
enforcement legal support.
Previously Gary held several leadership roles in the financial services industry, such as Head of Regulatory and Compliance Consulting for Financial Services Advisory Practice at BDO Consulting, President of Asset Management and Broker-Dealer Group at Integrated Compliance Solutions, Chief Compliance Officer of Aberdeen Asset Management Inc., Vice President of Compliance at Aberdeen Global Income Fund Inc., and Aberdeen Australia Equity Fund Inc.,Chief Compliance Officer of Evercore Partners, Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President at Aberdeen Asia-Pacific Income Fund, Inc., and others. Gary also served as Chief Compliance Officer of two publicly-traded financial institutions, as well as Director of Internal Audit for a worldwide, publicly-traded financial services firm. His many accomplishments also include the successful launch and leadership of EisnerAmper's Compliance and Regulatory Consulting Services practice. Gary also served as Director of Compliance of Merrill Lynch and led compliance and audit functions for Merrill Lynch and Nomura.
Gary has a long list of professional credentials, including Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Financial Forensics, and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. Gary graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate from Fordham Law School and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Vishal serves in a leadership capacity at NV Global for our technology services
vertical. He works closely with his US based partners to deliver optimal technical
solutions for our clients.
As the CEO of Coruscate, our technology partner based out of India, Vishal manages the offshore Technology and Innovation Center. Vishal is highly experienced in delivering complex technology solutions for international companies. He has broad experience in managing innovation portfolios and leveraging emerging technologies to bring the latest innovations to clients globally. Vishal provides technical direction across the company in areas of managed services, architecture designs, software technology, and cybersecurity.
Vishal brings over 6 years of extensive systems engineering, software development and information management experience and expertise.
Jonathan is the Managing Consultant for Regulatory and Legal Services at NV Global.
Jonathan focuses on securities law, venture capital and private equity, corporate
governance, and general corporate matters. He represents private companies,
including those exploring blockchain/ cryptocurrency opportunities, as well as angel
investors and investment funds.
Jonathan has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating and consummating initial and other public and private securities offerings with a focus on technology driven finance, including Crowdfunding, Regulation A+ and Initial Coin Offerings. He routinely advises companies on registration requirements under the investment companies, investment advisor and broker-dealer regulations as well as best practices in structuring operations to comply with exemptions from registration.
Jonathan's prior experience includes working of counsel for a small, international securities firm, and participating in various areas of public interest law, including a legal fellowship with the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania.
William (“Bear”) Idrissi is an ecosystem developer for NV Global. In this capacity,
he focuses on discovering new growth opportunities and business development
throughout North America.
Bear has in depth experience working with various NYC-based blockchain, crypto, and AI startups in sectors ranging from healthcare to real estate asset tokenization. He sits on the board of directors for Rise housing, leading strategic development for an impact focused real estate investment platform which uses blockchain technology to tokenize real estate assets. Bear is also the Chief Marketing Officer of Blockchain Productions, which produced “banking on bitcoin” on Netflix. He is currently producing a follow up docuseries on the impact of blockchain technology. He also holds roles at MBYS and Metcalfe Society.
Bear hosts various event series focused on crypto and impact focused ventures. He is the host and producer of Crypto Tuesdays for social good, a monthly event series and meetup group that highlights amazing founders and board members of impact focused blockchain startups. He works with many other startups in the ecosystem to address the use of technology to create impact and empower human creativity.
Puja is an advisor to NV Global’s startup portfolio. Puja is Head of External Innovation for New York Life Ventures. She is responsible
for establishing and developing partnerships with thought leaders, academics, and
the startup ecosystem to unlock new opportunities and explore emerging technologies.
Puja also acts as an innovation advisor to set and execute the team’s innovation
strategy and the external branding and communications strategy.
Puja has spent 15 years in financial services. Before joining New York Life Ventures, Puja was Citi Ventures where she was part of the founding team for the institution’s incubator program, D10X. Puja was responsible for designing and implementing strategic growth initiatives enterprise-wide. Puja also developed and executed global programs and platforms across Compliance while working for the Global Compliance Architecture group and the office of the Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to Citigroup she was at SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company where she managed the strategic and operational planning process for the CEO. She has also worked at McKinsey & Company and Hertz managing digital content and conducting market research.
In her free time, Puja founded and leads the Women in Technology for New York Life’s Women’s Initiative, is a mentor for Cornell Tech’s Studio Program for graduate students and for the Unreasonable Group, serves on the Financial Women’s Associate FinTech and Impact Investing Committees, and advises early stage startups on their growth strategy.
Puja earned her BS in Finance and Marketing from Fordham University and completed a fintech certification program with MIT.
